Nepali Pathshala of Virginia is a non-profit organization established to raise awareness and provide education on the Nepali language, culture, arts, and tradition to the local communities in the Washington DC metro area. Our primary focus is younger generations of Nepali American community, however, we welcome anyone willing to learn about Nepali culture and heritage.
We are a group of volunteers dedicated to pass on our rich cultural values, traditions, arts, and heritage to the next generation and prepare our children with multiple language skills in the dynamic society.
Our students learn by engaging in activities that emphasize age-appropriate speech, listening, and writing. We screen each new student for their language skills and place them in classes where they fit so they feel comfortable and learn as they go.
We follow the curriculum developed by the Curriculum Development Center, Ministry of Education, Nepal.
Nepali Pathshala of Virginia is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization and your donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

This class is an excellent opportunity for children to expand their knowledge and skills in the Nepali language, culture, art, tradition, and heritage. With advanced knowledge of Barahkhari, they can confidently read, write, and speak Nepali. The class also focuses on the formation of Nepali words, which is essential for enhancing their language abilities. In addition, children can learn about Nepali culture, festivals, and social structure, which is crucial for their overall education and development. This class provides them with a well-rounded education and helps them become more knowledgeable and culturally aware individuals.
Daphe
By the end of this class, students have become masters of the Nepali language, with the ability to read, write, and speak. In addition, students have gained a deep understanding of Nepal's rich culture, including its festivals, cultures, and social structure. Our exploration of Nepali Katha and Kabita from Nepali, social, and moral textbooks has been a highlight of our learning experience, and we are excited to continue building upon our knowledge of the Nepali language, culture, arts, and heritage.
Sagarmatha
In the Advanced class of our Pathshala, we have children aged between 10 to 16 years old. These children are fluent in speaking, reading, and writing Nepali. The curriculum of this class includes learning the Nepali language, culture, festivals, social structure of Nepal, tourism, and understanding the cultural differences between Nepal and the USA. It's a great opportunity for children to learn and appreciate their Nepali heritage while gaining knowledge about other cultures as well.
